Are Apple AirPods Worth The Money?

Apple AirPods

The short answer is YES. They are definitely worth the money. Before we move on to the long answer, let’s learn a brief history of AirPods:

The idea of AirPods came into existence back in 2011 when Jorge S Fino filed for a patent for Earbud-like headphones that would be “detached from the corded portion” and transmit a wireless signal to the host device so one can have a comfortable listening experience, especially during physical activities.

And then came 2016 when Apple removed the iPhone headphone jack with the launch of its new iPhone 7 and introduced the magnificent wireless earphones that we know as AirPods.

Apple’s Most Popular Accessory- AirPods

These Wireless Bluetooth Earbuds aren’t like any other headphones. They have features like changing the volume, skipping to the next song, answering calls, waking up Siri, etc.

The AirPods were specifically designed for iPhone and iPad but they are also compatible with any other brands as they’re Bluetooth-enabled devices.

At present, there are other companies like Sony and Samsung that manufacture high-quality wireless earphones that have similar features to the Apple AirPods. However, as Apple uses Product Development as its major business strategy, it has incorporated some premium features in its own AirPods.

Now, the biggest question we all have before using any wireless headphones is-

Will They Fall Out?

Keep Your Pods In Place

Any wireless headphone has the risk of “falling out”, especially during physical activities like running, jumping, etc. While how perfectly the buds will fit you depends on the size of your ears, there are certain ways to keep them in place.

You can get a pair of silicone AirPods skin, a detachable neckband, in-ear AirPods tip covers, or over-the-ear hooks.

There’s also a little hack- swap and wear them upside down.

Ways Apple AirPods Is Better Than the Other Brands-

Comparing EarPods
  1. They are cheaper than the other well-known brands
  2. They have longer battery life with 18 hours of talk time and 24 hours of music time. You have to charge it once every two days or overnight if you use it more often. The case it comes in can charge it 3 to 4 times a day before you have to charge the case itself. Plus, it takes only 20 minutes to charge.
  3. They use more comfortable materials than the other brands.
  4. You can use them hands-free. With a tap or two on them, you can answer calls, change volume, play/pause the music, skip to the next, etc.
  5.  There is a Find My AirPods feature in case you lose your expensive headphones or it gets stolen.

Which Model of AirPods to Get Specifically?

There are a number of models of AirPods that Apple has developed in the past few years. Currently, Apple manufactures only 3 models:

1. AirPods (2nd Generation)

AirPods 2nd Generation

It’s the most affordable one of the lot with its current price ranging from $118 to $130.

  • “Hey Siri” features
  • Phone Call Feature
  • Wireless Charging Case
  • Fast Pairing
  • H1 Headphone Chip

2. AirPods (3rd Generation)

AirPods 3rd Generation

This one is a bit more expensive than the 2nd Gen, ranging from $150 to $179, but it has got certain features that the 2nd Gen lacks.

  • Spatial Audio
  • Adaptive EQ
  • Better Battery Life; lesser charging time
  • Better Phone Call Quality
  • Sweat-resistant
  • Minimize wind for better sound
  • All features of 2nd Gen

3. AirPods Pro

AirPods Pro

This is the best, most expensive AirPods Apple sells at present (the current price ranges from $190 to $250). It has undeniably the best sound quality and also comes with a noise-cancellation feature.

  • Noise-cancellation
  • Better Phone Call Quality
  • Switchable Memory Foam Tips
  • All the features of the 2nd and 3rd Generation

4. AirPods Max

AirPods Max

The newest AirPods model has over-the-head support which is much different than the previous models. Its price goes as high as $549!

  • High-fidelity audio
  • Noise-cancellation with Transparency mode
  • Uncompromising, comfortable fit
  • Digital Crown for controlling volume, skipping tracks, answering calls, and waking up Siri
  • Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking and Adaptive EQ
  • One-tap-connect to the host device

It goes without saying, the more you spend on it the more features you get and thus the better-quality product you get.

Of course, the 2nd Gen lacks the premium features that the other models have BUT if you’re on a budget and only the basic features like controlling the volume, answering calls, and “Hey Siri” along with a good-quality sound is enough for you then I’d say go for it.

But if you want some premium features too then the 3rd Gen is good enough. And if you want the BEST AirPods available in today’s market, go for Pro.

The Max is the newest and most expensive of the lot but, if you ask me, the Pro should suffice unless you want something showy.

To conclude, YES, Apple AirPods are the best wireless earphones you can find on the market so it’s totally worth your money. It offers you exclusive features to give you the most pleasurable listening experience.

They are more comfortable, longer-lasting, and have a lesser risk of “falling out” in comparison to other brands. But the risk of falling out has not yet been eliminated so that’s a drawback. However, the pros definitely outweigh the cons here.
