Is it safe to use wireless headphones while charging it?

is it safe to use wireless headphones while charging it?

Do not use your electronic devices while charging them. You must have heard this many times throughout your life from your parents or friends. And when asked why not, they must have said “it’ll electrocute you” “it can damage the device” “the device might explode” or worse “you might get cancer!” (pssh, why would you get cancer?).

I am a big fan of music and gaming and these two undeniably consume a hell lot of battery so I often have to use my headphones while charging it. But is it really worth it?

Are there any side effects of using headphones while charging it?

Is it safe to use wireless headphones while charging it?

Let’s have a deep analysis and find your answer in this article.

Is it safe to use wireless headphones while charging it?

Yes. You can use your headset while charging it with the USB charging cable.

If a wire (e.g. a charging or audio cable) is connected to the USB harborage in the headset, you might notice a slightly elevated temperature around the USB harborage. A slightly elevated temperature is normal and within safe operating conditions and has no bearing on the lifetime or performance of the headset.

However, if you experience that the headset generates significant heat or gets significantly warmer than usual when charging or in use, it is recommended to immediately stop using the headset and contact the seller from whom you bought the headset.

Can it lead to cancer?

You know the answer to it. You will not get cancer from using headphones while charging. Duh.

But you probably have heard about radiation from electronic devices that can be harmful to your health and even cause serious illnesses such as cancer.

However, there isn’t any credible or consistent evidence of health problems caused by headphones or similar electronic devices.

The FDA also regularly monitors the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results SEER database maintained by the National Cancer Institute at the National Institutes for Health.

Per the SEER data, brain cancer rates aren’t increasing in the US despite the massive increase in the number of cellphone users.

Safety Practices You Must Follow When Using Headphones While Charging

  1. Don’t keep the plug on for too long
  2. When it starts to warm a little, turn it off
  3. Avoid defective chargers or adapters
  4. Avoid sleeping with your headphones while charging it
  5. Don’t use your headphones this way frequently
  6. If you feel any discontent then quickly see a doctor.

FAQs

Is it bad to use electronics while charging?

There is no danger in using your phone while it’s charging. This myth comes from fears about battery overheating. Lithium-ion batteries can be dangerous if they have any type of manufacturing defect, but this is rare.

Is it OK to charge the phone overnight?

So it’s perfectly safe to charge your phone overnight, just make sure it doesn’t suffer from overheating. That said you’ll be surprised how quick phones can charge today, so you don’t really need to leave it charging for 8 hours. One solution to slow down the charging is to use a wireless charger.

Does fast charging damage the battery?

The bottom line is fast charging won’t impact your battery life substantially. But the physics behind the technology means you shouldn’t expect the battery to last longer than using a conventional “slow” charging brick.

Is it better to fast charge or slow charge?

Slow charging is the most preferred and most independent source of charging the EV battery. It provides the maximum battery life (cycle life) and is safer than fast charging, especially for NMC batteries.

Is wireless charging better for battery?

So, to conclude, wireless charging won’t affect your phone’s battery if you don’t charge your phone multiple times in a day. Wireless charging is less efficient and more power-consuming than wired charging. Studies have found that wireless charging averagely uses 47 per cent more power than wired charging.

Conclusion

You can use your earphones or headphones while charging them, there’s no harm in it as long as you don’t do it too frequently and watch out when they’re getting heated up.

However, it may not be totally safe but if you follow the safety practices and won’t do it too frequently you’ll be just fine just don’t let it make you uncomfortable and if they’re warming up stop right there otherwise it’s safe to use and you can enjoy your music or gaming without worrying about the battery.
